Notes:
This map was presented to the South Coast Region Stakeholders Group at the March 4th meeting in Long Beach. It was presented by the SCRSG work group 'Opal' as a first draft proposal. This map designates SMRs at Goleta, Point Mugu, Malibu, Laguna Beach, Del Mar, La Jolla, and Point Loma. Also included are large SMCAs encompassing the entire Santa Monica Bay and the entire leeward side of Catalina Island. In total there are 48 MPAs including 24 SMRs and 15 SMCAs. This map includes military closures.

This map will be analyzed by the Science Advisory Team, California Department of Fish and Game, California Department of Parks and Recreation, and MLPA Initiative staff. Feedback will be provided to the MLPA Initiative for consideration in the next round of SCRSG draft proposals.

What others have said about this map:

You can share your thoughts on each of these maps to tell the Initiative which MPAs you support and which you don't. This feature is an important part of getting involved because it gives you the opportunity to provide direct feedback on what the Initiative is planning, feedback that they would not otherwise have.
