Notes: This map was presented to the South Coast Region Stakeholders Group at the March 3rd meeting in Long Beach. It was presented by Joe Exline of the Fishermen's Information Committee / Fishermen's Information Network as an external proposal. This map includes SMRs at Goleta, Point Mugu, Malibu, Laguna Beach, Del Mar, and La Jolla. It also includes a large SMCA at Palos Verdes Peninsula. In total there are 38 MPAs covering 239 square miles (10% of the South Coast region).
This map will be analyzed by the Science Advisory Team, California Department of Fish and Game, California Department of Parks and Recreation, and MLPA Initiative staff. Feedback will be provided to the MLPA Initiative for consideration in the next round of SCRSG draft proposals.
