yesfishing.org Mission Statement

yesfishing.org was created to get the word out to the recreational fishing community in Southern California about the Marine Life Protection Act (MLPA) and to give the fishing community an organized resource for getting involved and voicing their opinions. The MLPA seeks to create a network of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) throughout California costal waters that will outlaw and restrict fishing at many popular fishing grounds. Well-organized environmental groups have taken steps to ensure that their interests are well represented with the MLPA Initiative, a cross interest group charged with creating the MPAs. yesfishing.org seeks to balance that representation with the interests of the fishing community and to help the MLPA Initiative arrive at a solution that allows for the conservation of our natural resources but also allows for the benefits of that conservation to be realized and remain accessible.
